Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (Bellevue)

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Youth Eastside Services (YES) provides evidence-based mental health counseling, substance use and co-occurring disorder counseling and treatment, psychiatric services, and education and prevention
programs to children and youth, ages birth to 22, and their families in East King County.
In May, 2019, YES is offering the community a course that is specifically designed to teach adults who parent or work with adolescents how to help a youth experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge. This 8-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid certificate course is split into two Mondays, May 6 and 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the YES Bellevue location.
This course will help you…

The training introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. We will use role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to recognize and respond to the warning signs and symptoms of specific illnesses like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and substance use disorders.

The course cost is $75 and includes a training manual and dinner.
